Saxon Shield wall
Today is the anniversary of the Battle of Fulford, when the Fryd's of Northumberland and Mercia under the command of Earl's Morcar and Edwin defended the North from the largest Viking army to ever attack England. The young Earls with no previous experience of war formed a shield wall and fought the Viking army of king Harold the Stern. The greatest warrior of his day.
