Two idiots, Daniel Graham & Adam Carruthers. Were recently both given a four year prison sentence for cutting down the Sycamore Gap tree . The pair, in the middle of the night during a storm used a chain saw to fell the tree, for a laugh. The three minute mornic act, caused a huge back lash and the pair were soon caught. The tree one of the most loved trees in the UK, stood for hundreds of years in a fold in the Northumberland landscape were it was visited by thousands of people each month. I've visited this majestic magical tree several times, I couldn't believe any one would murder this old tree, that is the spirit of Northumberland for a laugh.. What these two men did was mindless and nasty.
But it also made me think of what our Odinist values mean. Odinism is a faith of kindness & compassion. this does not mean being woke or adopting a floppy liberal outlook. It means as a north European folk faith, we love and care for our folk our land and nature. It means we try to help and guide our people it means reaching out the hand of friendship to all North European's and offering help to all our Anglo Saxon brothers and sisters. But, it also means we respect nature and do nothing that harms, pollutes, destroys things for no reason. The kindness respect we show to the world and promote is something all Odinists should be proud of, Its why every Odinist I know was outraged when the great Sycamore of the North was attacked felled and killed for a laugh. Odinism is a faith with good values followed by good folk if you care about our planet and share our love for nature you might find a place in our Odinist family.
